The sea smiled in the distance,
its teeth frothy foam,
its lips the sky.
“What do you sell, sad girl with a bare chest?”
“I sell the waters of the seas, sir.”
“Boy, mixed with blood, what do you have?”
“I have the waters of the seas, sir.”
“Mother, where do these salty tears come from?”
“I cry the waters of the seas, sir.”
My heart, and this infinite bitterness
where does it originate?
The waters of the seas
are bitter indeed, sir.
The sea smiled in the distance,
its teeth frothy foam,
its lips the sky.
