Since 2005, with Ali Khatib-Shahidi as my life partner, my work took a more serious turn. We aimed to revive Iran’s traditional cloth-weaving. But traveling across the country, we found people disconnected from their heritage. Disheartened, we returned and focused on giving new life to tradition. In Kashan, we convinced a silk-weaving workshop to collaborate. I wanted to infuse modern spirit into ancient textiles. The collaboration continues—with many ups and downs—and has gradually drawn in other designers and workshops
